
ZULU LOUNGE was a Juke Joint founded by Isaac Evitts, in Tulsa Oklahoma, in the Greenwood district(BLACK WALL STREET), during the early 1920's.

In the early 1920s, the Greenwood district in Tulsa, was an affluent black-owned neighborhood commonly referred to as Black Wall Street. The greenwood district covered more that 35 city blocks. African americans during that time couldn't shop in white-owned stores, because of segregation. So they spent their money in their own community, which helped support and build up the community. The greenwood district had grocery stores, cafes, clothiers, beauty salons, movie theaters, doctors, a libary, two newspapers, private airplanes, pool halls, savings and loans, hotels, law offices, tailors, restaurants etc...An estimated 10,000 people lived in the area.
